With the launch of the new equity trading platform in Chile, nuam has completed the implementation of a common technology infrastructure across the capital markets of Chile, Colombia, and Peru.
This milestone marks the completion of a fundamental stage in the company's technology roadmap, developed over the past several years, and establishes a common technology foundation to continue advancing, gradually, toward the integration of the region's capital markets.
The new infrastructure incorporates technologies developed in collaboration with strategic partners and enables the three markets operated by nuam to run on a common technology architecture for equity trading, strengthening processing capacity, operational continuity and market efficiency.
While this milestone does not yet represent the operational integration of the three markets, it completes one of the key technological enablers of the regional integration process and lays the groundwork for continued progress toward a more integrated regional market, with greater operational and technological compatibility.
With Chile's go-live, the implementation of this common technology infrastructure has now been completed across all three markets operated by nuam. The first trading day in the Chilean market was completed successfully, marking the conclusion of this phase of the implementation project.
“The launch of this new infrastructure represents a milestone for the Chilean market and completes the first phase in the development of the integrated market. Today, it enables the Chilean, Colombian and Peruvian markets to operate on a common technology platform for equity trading. This advancement strengthens the market’s capabilities and reflects the coordinated efforts of the entire ecosystem over the past several years,” said Juan Pablo Córdoba, CEO of nuam.
The implementation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the stock exchanges in Chile, Colombia, and Peru, market intermediaries, direct market participants, technology providers, regulators, and specialized teams, all of whom contributed throughout the design, preparation, testing, and migration phases.
The new infrastructure is capable of processing up to 10,000 transactions per second with latency below 100 microseconds, significantly increasing processing capacity compared with the previous infrastructure and aligning nuam with the technology standards used by some of the world's most advanced capital markets.
This platform provides the technological foundation on which nuam will continue developing new capabilities and functionalities for its markets, expanding their technological capabilities and creating greater opportunities for investors, issuers, and intermediaries.
The completion of this technological milestone builds on other initiatives promoted by nuam to develop a regional market, including the harmonization of operating rules across Chile, Colombia, and Peru, as well as regional initiatives such as the MSCI nuam Regional Index.
With this milestone, nuam continues executing its regional integration strategy through a common technology infrastructure and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the capital markets of Chile, Colombia, and Peru while expanding access opportunities for investors and issuers.
